PRESIDENT'S COLUMN
By Marcia Price, SDCA President
For the profession of counseling and SDCA the past month has been one of excitement and disappointment. I want to thank all individuals who participated in the legislative process by being in Pierre and/or contacting your Representatives and Senators, and special thanks to the Government Relations Committee. The message that we need to come away with is that "we made progress but there is still more work to do". And we need every professional counselor to get involved in this process. Our "cause" is right and good for not only the profession but for the citizens of South Dakota.
SDCA Conference is only two months away. I know how much I always look forward to conference and am hoping that all of you feel the same. It is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our profession. We come together to learn, to connect with old friends, to make new friends, and to leave with a renewed energy and enthusiasm. Mark your calendars and get your registration sent and plan to have a great time in Pierre. Central Chapter has a history of hosting an awesome conference-don't miss this one! Begin your conference experience with a refreshing "Walk/Run" along the shores of the Missouri River.
Another opportunity to consider is the ACA Conference March 31st thru April 3rd in Montreal, Canada. A short journey across the border for a great professional development experience is well worth your time and resources. Check the ACA website for more details!
I am looking forward to seeing each and everyone you in Pierre on April 20th! Bring a co-worker who has not had the SDCA Conference experience-they will thank you! "Hooked On Helping" means helping not only others but ourselves!
