    The Be Hattitudes

    By Jean Lakner,
    SDCA Past President

Conference participants eagerly wore and made hats during Marie Wakefield's interactive workshop that explored generational values and internal/external factors that have impacted us as individuals. Self-awareness and leaving a legacy were focal points of the presentation.

Marie is currently President-elect for the American Counseling Assoication and is a 30-year veteran educator from Las Vegas, Nevada. "Counselors in South Dakota have the most intimate professional relationships," stated Marie after spending a couple days interacting with association members at the conference in Pierre. She also commented on our ability to play hard as well as work hard and said she'd never attended a conference that was so much fun.

I believe most of us would say the same of Marie's time shared with us on the Saturday morning that she brought out hundreds of hats - it kept with the fun and lively spirit!
