    RESEARCH AND WRITING AWARD OPPORTUNITY

    Do you have a research project underway or one scheduled to start in the next few months? Do you have a manuscript submitted for publication or perhaps one accepted for publication? How about an actual publication in the professional literature for 2005? South Dakota Counseling Association's Research and Writing Committee would like to invite SDCA members to submit their research and writing projects for the spring 2006 Research and Writing Awards.

    Eligibility requirements are as follows: 1) At least one member of the research team must be a member of the SDCA and a Local chapter; 2) At least one member of the research team must be a counseling professional (work at least 1/2 time as a professional counselor, counselor educator, etc); and 3) The research results must be deemed eligible and submitted for publication in The Dakota Counselor or nationally in a counseling related journal. Individuals presenting writing projects or published articles must provide evidence of submission or acceptance (e.g., letter from journal editor accepting or publishing the manuscript/article).

    Those submitting projects for review should provide:
    1) Cover sheet containing contact information (i.e., name address, e-mail, etc.);
    2) A brief letter of application;
    3) Documentation of acceptance of the research project by a school system, community agency, or academic department (i.e., letter from school administrator, agency director, academic advisor, human subjects approval, etc.); and
    4) An overview of the project including how the research will be shared with the SDCA membership.

    Two awards, one for a research project and one for a writing project will be awarded at the 2006 SDCA conference. The deadline for submissions is February 1, 2006.

    Those wishing to participate may submit their projects via e-mail to william_briddick@sdstate.edu or send their proposals directly to the chair of the research and writing committee:
