    CORNBELT CHAPTER CORNER

    By Anna Fischer

The time has arrived and we are off and running planting our seeds wherever we go! In September we had our first gathering. It was a great afternoon of networking and camaraderie. It was inspiring to just relax and share information with others in our profession. It is always relieving to know you aren't the only one sometimes!

In October, we began our first service project of the year with a Project SOS drive for the banquet in Sioux Falls. Typically, this is done before the school year, but they always run out of supplies for families that move into Sioux Falls and the surrounding area. As a chapter, we decided to help contribute to this need and each member is going collect supplies either within their school or agency.

In November, we will be having our first ever Cornbelt Chapter Caravan. This will be a day where we will take some time to enjoy each other's company as we travel from school to school and business to business taking tours of the facilities and learning from others within our field and related fields. All members and interested counselors are welcome to join us on our journey. We will start the Caravan at 9:00 AM at Southeast Tech's Health Center room 243. We look forward to a great day!

To wrap up the fall/winter months we will be volunteering at a Habitat for Humanity house within the Sioux Falls area, planning our second annual Cornbelt Chapter workshop to be held on January 24th and finally, for some well deserved fun, we will be hosting a holiday social for our members at CJ Callaway's on December 1st. We hope the weather actually cooperates with us this year!

As the Cornbelt Chapter president this year I would like to take the time to say thank you to everyone we have worked with thus far. It has been such a pleasure to be in this position and I appreciate everyone's dedication to our profession. If anyone is interested in participating in any of the events above or learning more about the Cornbelt Chapter please email me at anna.fischer@southeasttech.com.
