    CHAPTER NEWS

    CENTRAL CHAPTER NEWS

    Jean Blonigen, President

We are off and running for an exciting year. Central Chapter again would like to extend an invitation to you to attend the Spring Conference in Pierre at the Ramkota on April 20th 21st and 22nd. We are looking forward to being your hosts for a great conference experience.

In the last news I forgot to mention the other officers for Central Chapter and to thank them for their help and support. Kim Goebel is the Past President, Levi Reindl is the President Elect and Bev Penn is the Secretary/Treasurer for Central Chapter.

Nineteen members were present for the September 13th meeting for Central Chapter at the St. Charles in Pierre. Central Chapter had membership, a project for Katrina, December party and planning for the Spring Conference as the major items on the agenda. Members are encouraged to recruit at least one new member and to give the name to either Kim Goebel or myself. Letters have been sent out to prospective members. PLEASE REMEMBER TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP FOR BOTH CENTRAL CHAPTER AND SDCA IF YOU HAVE NOT.

Kris Sanchez has started a project called "Koins for Katrina" in Pierre, which has been adopted by Central Chapter members. Children are asked to give coins that will then be sent through the Red Cross for Katrina victims. Originally the thought was to send school supplies, but it was felt that this might be more feasible. SDSCA President Andree Johnson's letter from the Red Cross, which listed items needed and local Red Cross Centers across the state was also shared. If you would like further information, please contact Kris Sanchez or myself.

The Central Chapter Christmas party is scheduled for Saturday, December 3rd at 3 PM at Char Nickolas's house at 1208 E. Capitol in Pierre. An email will be sent out to get exact numbers later, but please contact Char or myself for more information.

Planning was done for the Spring Conference. Sign up occurred for the various committees for the conference, including the Auction, Registration/Information Table, Entertainment, Door Prizes, Decorations and the Fun Run. If you are able to help with one of the committees, please let me know as soon as possible.

Kelly Duncan, SDCA Executive Director and Marcia Price, SDCA President have issued a Call for Programs for the Spring Conference. Please consider doing a program. Your help is appreciated and needed.

    CORNBELT CHAPTER NEWS

    SIOUX CHAPTER NEWS

    By Kurt Turbak, President

Sioux Chapter members have taken advantage of their invitation to participate in another active Chapter year. In August the Chapter held our first annual workshop. It was great to meet SDCA members from across the state interested in the ethics of our profession. The leadership of our Chapter has decided to build on the success of our workshop and will offer another workshop next August. In September the Fall Mixer was again held at Minerva's. Many Chapter members had the opportunity to network with other counselors and see what the Chapter will be offering during the remainder of the year. It is always great to rekindle friendships and meet new friends. Our October event will be held Tuesday, October 25 from 7:00 - 8:00 am at the Bowden Youth Center. Members will have the opportunity to learn more about the Volunteers of America - Dakotas agency. This agency provides many resources to children and families within the greater Sioux Falls area. All members and interested counselors are invited to participate in this event. Get up early and enjoy the coffee and camaraderie of the Sioux Chapter.
