CULTIVATING A BETTER TOMORROW
to dream of the person
you would like to be...
is to waste the person you are.
Cultivate yourself first!
Your vocation is profoundly important but also endlessly challenging, and often exhausting. Finding balance and tapping into sources of energy and inspiration are essential.
Balance this year is a key word for me, and I hope for you. Yes, it's difficult—but necessary. You are your greatest resource; make a conscious commitment to maintain balance. It sounds great but how? Accept that there will always be more than you can do. Set your boundaries. Plan to take care of yourself through giving yourself enough time to get the tasks done you need to do, get enough sleep, exercise, healthy eating, and don't forget about the hobbies.
Prioritize weekly and daily. Take time to identify what's most important to do. We also give out good advice, but do we listen to ourselves!!!! My calendar is so colored code for each of my family members that it looks like a rainbow. Remember to stay focused on your priorities and don't overextend yourself. This one is hard for me. Take time to cultivate yourself, because you know as well as I do a lot of people depend on you.
This year we have things happening. Watch for date and time for classes being offered on different topics through the various divisions of SDCA. Please get involved with your SDCA and your local chapters and divisions. We need each other. Shortly there will be a call for programs for our Spring Conference in Sioux Falls. Please write up a proposal, because all of you have neat things happening and going on and we would love it if you would share with us. We all love new ideas and new ways of doing things to make our programs better!! Keep checking our website, because new things are happening.
