What Does the SDCA Board of Directors Do?
The SDCA board of directors consists of the president and president-elect of each Area of Specialty and Chapter. The board is also made up of several committee chairs who help fulfill the services provided to SDCA members.
The Areas of Specialty are subgroups of counselors found in South Dakota and chapters are geographical subgroups of counselors across the state.
The SDCA board of directors meets quarterly. Most of the time this consists of a board retreat in July or August to help new board members become acquainted with their positions and responsibilities. Also during the retreat the board creates the year’s strategic plan. The strategic plan is then implemented throughout the fiscal year. The board then will generally meet in October, January and then in April during the SDCA conference.
