2023 Award Winner: Kristine Ramsay Seaner, pictured with nominator Emma Qurashi

Dr. R-S is an exceptional human being. She excels in getting the best out of her students in a way that transcends the boundaries of a classroom. On top of that, her current research involves working with a very important sect of people from the Midwest – farmers & ranchers. Her research is going to impact lots of lives as it relates to substance abuse treatment.

Dr. R-S is molding the next generation of counselors with her robust and attentive method of teaching. She equips her students with modern approaches in counselling. The thing that stands out is her desire to go the extra mile for her students. She doesn’t mind connecting her students
to different agencies for their internship experiences. She also serves on South Dakota Counseling Association as a chair of the education committee and arranges various conferences and events at SDSU. And through SDSU’s extension program, she also helps create online resources
and webinars related to various mental health issues. And like I have mentioned already, her current research holds paramount value to the rural population of the Midwest.- Emma Qurashi
