Speaker Bios:

Deb Butman-Perkins is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Mental Health, and a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor.  She has 45 years of experience working with children and adolescents both in the United States and England.  Deb has served in a variety of capacities in both her state and national counseling/therapy organizations.   In addition to private practice work, Deb is a presenter on a variety of mental health topics on a state and national level. Active member of the South Dakota Counseling Association, and The National Association of Play Therapy    She also provides consultation with local schools and community groups. 

Clark Perkins was a school counselor for 37 years.  He has worked both as a high school and elementary counselor as well as providing a variety of consultation services for the community. For the last 7 years his retirement job is working in private practice working with children, adolescents and adults. Clark is an active member of South Dakota Counseling Association, Association of Play Therapy, and a variety of religious and civic groups. Clark also provides educational consultation expertise.  He is also active in The Hopeful Spirit Chorale which provides support to hospice patients in his community

The Circle of Encouragement, which serves kids and families, is Deb and Clark’s private practice in Brookings, SD.  As well as their  private practice work, both Deb and Clark have been active Red Cross volunteers since 1997 with Support to Armed Forces and Disaster Mental Health.

Deb Langrehr was a school counselor for 35 years.  She has worked both in the high school and elementary areas of school counseling, as well as working with various community entities to provide mentoring and consultation services. Deb is an active member of South Dakota Counseling Association, Association for Play Therapy and many religious and civic organizations within her community.  Deb has worked within her farming community to provide mental health support to farm families across the state of SD, because she is a farmer herself.

After retiring from school counseling.  Deb maintained her professional licensure as well as obtaining her Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor certification.  She was the lead child counselor providing trauma services at the Compass Center for 5 years.  Upon retirement from that position, Deb has opened up her private practice, Counseling Within, LLC where she provides support to children, adolescents and families.
